The
Key and Open Laboratory of State Forestry Administration
is among the 1st batch of ministry-level key and open
laboratories officially approved by the original Ministry
of Forestry in 1995. Taking the Subtropical Forestry Research
Institution of China Academy of Forestry as the technological
support, the laboratory conducts the basic theoretical
and constructing technique research on biology, germplasm
resources, genetic breeding, high production and high
efficiency cultivation, development and utilization of
important forest plants as well as forestry ecological
project construction. It provides applicable new technology
and scientific theoretical base to the efficient operation
of forest resources in subtropical areas, key forestry
projects and sustainable development of forestry.
During the period of “9th five-year plan”, the laboratory
hosted 133 scientific research projects, including 28
projects such as the State 948 Project, National Natural
Science Foundation, international cooperation, state technological
key task subject etc, 57 items such as ministry, provincial
key projects, provincial natural science foundation etc.
It completed all the contracted missions successfully
and achieved 15 scientific research results, obtained
21 scientific prizes which are above ministry and provincial
levels, including one Hong Kong Yilida Prize, one 2nd
Prize and three 3rd Prize of National Sci-Tech Advance
Award, 4 prizes of 2nd award of ministry and provincial
level and above. And it edited and published 16 monographs
in total, released 253 academic theses, including 214
core periodical theses. It organized 4 times of international
conferences and international trainings, 3 times of national
academic seminars. The promotion area of new technology
and species is over 50,000 hectares accumulatively.
The laboratory is built with several professional labs
including molecular heredity, cell cultivation, tissue
cultivation, tree physiology, forest nitrogen fixation,
soil chemistry and plant chemistry etc. So far it is equipped
with large imported equipment such as HPCE, PE9600-type
DNA Amplifier, infrared CO2 analyzing system, high speed
freezing centrifuge, cell culture system, high performance
liquid chromatograph, gas chromatograph, atomic absorption
spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrograph and fermenter,
portable photosynthesis testing apparatus, electrophoresis
gel imaging device, automatic meteorological station,
freeze-drying machine etc.
The Key and Open Laboratory of State Forestry Administration
plays a remarkable role on the development and utilization,
quality inspection of active ingredients of the pine pollen.
Sample preparation room
The samples of pine pollen are processed here before analysis,
the active ingredients or harmful substances are extracted
for the procedure of instrument analysis.
Liquid
chromatograph
Mainly for analysis of the amino acids, vitamins, sterols
and other active ingredients in the pine pollen, for ensuring
that the effective ingredients of the pine pollen meet
the standard.
Mainly used for content analysis of beneficial elements
(iron, zinc, manganese, selenium and calcium etc) and
contamination of harmful heavy metals (lead, chrome, mercury,
arsenic and cadmium etc) in the pine pollen. It is tested
whether the content of beneficial elements, content of
elements meet the requirements, whether the harmful elements
exceed the standard. So the quality of product or raw
material is controlled in two aspects.
Gas
chromatograph
Purpose 1: determine the volatile ingredients (odor) of
pine pollen, it means that the pine pollen is not fresh
enough, the product or raw material is deteriorating when
the volatile ingredients change; purpose
2: detect whether the pine pollen is contaminated by pesticides,
it will be rejected whenever pesticide is detected.
HPCE:
Mainly for detecting the content and category of active
proteins in the pine pollen, the content of active proteins
is high in fresh pine pollen, and it has a high health
care value.
Ultraviolet spectrograph
It costs nearly RMB 200,000, mainly for measurement of
effective ingredients in the pine pollen.
